Jacobus Antonius Martinus (Jack) Harden (Hoensbroek, 1935 – 2002, Deurne) était un peintre, dessinateur, poète et sculpteur néerlandais.

Lorsque Harden a emménagé avec son oncle et artiste (textile) bien connu Willi Martinali à l’âge de neuf ans, juste après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, son intérêt pour l’art a été suscité.
Martinali est devenu son maître et son père spirituel.
Son style est donc lié à celui de Martinali, les œuvres réalisées avec des matériaux tels que la peinture acrylique, la peinture à l’huile et la cellulose sur carton Masonite, souvent avec des titres philosophiques.
À l’âge de dix-neuf ans, Harden a eu sa première exposition au Van Abbemuseum d’Eindhoven. Plus tard, en plus de travailler sur panneau, il a également réalisé des peintures murales dans toutes sortes de bâtiments (publics) et avec des particuliers.
Il a également encouragé les artistes émergents au cours de leur carrière.
Juste avant sa mort, après une période moindre, il recommence à dessiner. Il munit régulièrement ses toiles de textes au dos, parfois écrits en écriture miroir.
Cette oeuvre provient d’une collection de musée près d’Eindhoven.

When Harden moved in with his uncle and well-known (textile) artist Willi Martinali at the age of nine, just after WWII his interest in art was sparked.
Martinali became his teacher and spiritual father. His style is therefore related to that of Martinali, the works made with materials such as acrylic paint, oil paint and cellulose on Masonite board, often with philosophical titles.
At the age of nineteen, Harden had his first exhibition at the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven. Later, in addition to working on panel, he also made murals in all kinds of (public) buildings and with private persons.
He also encouraged emerging artists during their careers. Just before his death, after a lesser period, he started drawing again.
He regularly provided his paintings with texts on the back, sometimes written in mirror writing.
This artwork comes from a museum collection near Eindhoven.
